Students will turn in the Persuasive Research Essay Proposal in the “Journals” tab of the Learning Hub.
In preparation for the Persuasive Research Essay, students will write a proposal covering the topic, basic approach for research, and likely key points of the essay.
The essay proposal should provide the basic elements as follows:
Introduction with purpose of the essay topic and the goals of the research
Statement of Problem (what the student writer will be trying to persuade the reader about); any preliminary research could be cited here in APA format to explain need for further research or development of ideas
Proposed Solution (how the student writer will convince the reader using the persuasive elements of the essay); students should provide at least one potential solution as part of their persuasion
Scope (research topics/questions/ideas)
Methods – students should demonstrate research literacy by including a proposed plan for further research to support the argument, counterargument, and key ideas
Qualifications – How is the student qualified to study this topic?
