The field of Child Advocacy is very broad. Throughout this course we discuss a variety of Youth issues, including discrimination and poverty, risk and resiliency, child abuse, school failure, LBGT youth concerns, bullying, depression, suicide, substance abuse and many more topics. I want you to choose one topic that is of particular interest to you. You can pick anything, as long as it pertains to Child Advocacy, this includes the topics listed above but is not limited to them.
You will conduct research on your own, using a minimum of 3 peer reviewed journal articles and your text as support. Note that Wikipedia.com is NOT an acceptable reference to site. In fact, Magazines, Websites, Newspapers and common books do not count. Look for peer-reviewed journal articles that can be found through searching the library (or google scholar). I am happy to help you find sources if you contact me. These are meant to inform your paper, no details on research methods used are necessary.
If you plagiarize you will receive an automatic failure on the assignment and this will be reported. 10% of your grade will be on the writing quality alone, so I strongly encourage you to visit the writing center or to submit a draft to me in advance. When I say well written I mean:
Paper is in APA format (12pt font, 1 inch margins).
Sentences are complete, spell check has been utilized and paper has been edited for fragments.
Paper is written in formal, 3rd person (absolutely no use of “I think” or “In my opinion”).

Sample Outline: This is only a sample, if you have other methods of structure that is fine.
