Following the assessment, critique the content and process of the assessment based on what you have learned through this class, reading about social work assessment, and the independent research you have conducted that identifies the protective and risk factors relevant to the client issue you are assessing. The critique should be approximately 7-9 double spaced pages in length.
You must cite the literature sources that support your critique and include these sources in the reference list at the end of the paper using APA style. Appropriate literature sources include: required readings for this course, peer-reviewed academic or professional journals, published books, and organizational/institutional websites (e.g., the CDC, NIMH, SAMHSA). Students should include at least 10 citations and references in this part of their assignment.
Use the following guidelines for the critique of your assessment…
Critique the descriptive information gathered on:
• The individual client (s) (e.g. personal characteristics, attributes)
• The family system (e.g. structure, roles, rules, history, life cycle)
• The socio-cultural-physical environment
In your critique be sure to discuss if and how the information gathered is connected to the mission of your agency and the client’s presenting issue. Also, in your critique be sure to discuss whether in your opinion the level and type of information is appropriate given your agency’s mission and the client’s presenting situation. For example, in your critique, discuss whether the amount of information gathered on each of the levels is sufficient to understand the client’s situation. Is the information related to the protective and risk factors that were identified in the literature? If not, what is missing? Are the strengths as well as the stressors on each of these levels identified? Is there attention to the differences that may be related to race, identity and other cultural variables?
